OUTBOARD SPLIT FLAP AERODYNAMICS OF A FLYING WING CONFIGURATION

S. Pfnür¹, C. Breitsamter¹; ¹Technical University of Munich, Germany

Experimental and numerical investigations on the aerodynamics of a flying wing configuration with deflected outboard split flap are presented. Force, pressure, and PIV data is compared to numerical results and used to analyze the flap efficiency and flow topology for several freestream conditions. Information about the directional stability and controllability of the flying wing is obtained.
