ALGORITHMS AND SYSTEM FOR CURVED AND CONTINUOUS DESCENT TRAJECTORIES IMPROVING FUEL EFFICIENCY IN TMA

This paper focuses on the development of curved and continuous descent trajectories generation algorithms, by remodeling arrival procedures in TMA, leading to up 30-40% of fuel saving. A dedicated aircraft trajectory simulator, based on 3DoF aircraft point-mass model, has been implemented for trajectories generation and fuel consumption assessment for small-scale experiments for Italian airports.
