OPTIMISATION OF A WING-BODY-TAIL CONFIGURATION WITH AN ALTERNATIVE LOW DRAG FUSELAGE AND BODY TRAILING EDGE

A proposed configuration, where a principal aerodynamic benefit comes from a modified low drag body trailing edge deflector flap, termed Kutta Edge (KE). A validated CFD model is incorporated with a SHERPA optimization procedure. The investigation results in an optimised wing-body-tail configuration for aerodynamic performance and provides guidelines for practical application.rn
