INVESTIGATION OF FLOW CONTROL OVER THE SUPERCRITICAL AIRFOIL BY TANGENTIAL JET BLOWING AT TRANSONIC SPEEDS

Numerical RANS simulations are carried out to characterize buffet phenomenon on transonic airfoil. A jet of compressed air is blown from narrow slot nozzle tangentially to airfoil upper surface in the region of shock location to reduce shock-induced separation and to delay buffet onset. Experimental investigations are also performed and compared with numerical simulations.
