NASA is participating in the FAA’s Flight Deck-based Merging and Spacing (FDMS) Working Group to develop and test a prototype tool for airborne spacing that is acceptable for use with Continuous Descent Arrivals. Fast-time and HITL simulator studies were conducted to validate the feasibility of the combination.
