A ground-centric concept for merging and sequencing aircraft on Area Navigation (RNAV)/Required Navigation Performance (RNP) procedures in the terminal area leveraging the advanced flight deck capability of meeting Required Time of Arrival (RTA) instructions is defined. Automation to provide time-based resolution advisories, in the form of RTAs, speed control, and lateral offsets to the controller to achieve efficient merging and sequencing is proposed and evaluated.
