We discuss the application of a nonlinear time domain technique, based on a recursive neural network approach, to simulate the six degree-of-freedom motion of an advanced non-axisymmetric undersea vehicle. The results are excellent. They demonstrate a faster-than-real-time simulation capability and allow advanced, predictive control strategies to be explored.
