Gusts and turbulence strongly affect passenger comfort and safety of aircraft. Although, the aircraft behavior in homogeneous natural turbulence is different from its response in clear air turbulence or wake vortex flow fields, active control technology can be applied to alleviate the effects of these phenomena on aircraft response.
