The HSAD is a hypersonic missile originally planned for launch from the F-18 at Mach = 0.8, and later changed to launch from the QF-4. Wind tunnel tests of the F-18/HSAD were combined with comparative CFD analysis of the F-18 and QF-4 to clear the HSAD for launch.
