IN-FLIGHT EXPERIMENTS FOR DELAYING LAMINAR-TURBULENT TRANSITION ON A LAMINAR WING GLOVE

Keywords: Active Flow Control, Laminar-Turbulent Transition, Damping of Tollmien-Schlichting Instabilities, In-flight Measurements

The investigations are aimed at measurements of the Tollmien-Schlichting (TS) instabilities and their cancellation in flight experiments. The instabilities are cancelled by superimposing with artificially generated counter waves. A laminar wing glove is used with an active sensor-actuator system, which consists of surface hot-wire sensors and a membrane actuator.
