INVESTIGATION OF SEPARATION CONTROL FOR LOW-PRESSURE TURBINES USING CFD

We investigated low-pressure turbine separation control using direct numerical simulations. Pulsed vortex generator jets were found to be more effective than steady jets. Our simulations show that due to the in-phase actuation of the jets a hydrodynamic instability is exploited for making the control more effective.
