Particle image velocimetry (PIV) measurements are presented from rectangular cavities of different length-to-depth ratios at a Mach number of 0.85 in the RMCS transonic wind tunnel. The measurements are made in l/h=5 and l/h=14 cavities in order to encompass the open and closed flow regimes. The time- averaged two-dimensional PIV results are compared with time-averaged two-dimensional URANS CFD predictions.
