In regard to aeroelastic applications the otherwise common yet computationally expensive approach of time-accurately solving the unsteady Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations is not feasible. However, a numerical method based on the small disturbance formulation of these governing equations, as presented here, can provide an efficient and accurate tool for predicting aerodynamic loading.
