This paper presents the application of Detection Indices (DI) in a miniature Health and Usage Monitoring System unit developed by Defence Science and Technology Organisation of Australia in co-operation with GPS Online Pty Ltd. The DI is used to process the data onboard without preventing more complicated algorithms being used later while reducing the amount of data storage required.
