Keywords: parallel chimera, helicopter

In the CFD field, the chimera method is a meshing technique which enables complex geometries to be dealt with using overset structural grids. In the context of parallel scalar computers, its efficiency can be raised by balancing the overset grid blocks over the machine processors. In this paper, the chimera method has been parallelised in ONERA's elsA software leading to efficient computations of steady and unsteady applications including moving bodies. Particular focus is placed on helicopter applications.
