Fuel cells show a high potential for future realization in aircraft substituting conventional APU’s because of the unmatched efficiency and environmental performance. Two types of fuel cells, i.e. low temperature PEMFCs and high temperature SOFCs, have been assessed for their opportunities and drawbacks in an aircraft environment.
