A methodology to identify the dynamic model of smart structures is introduced in this paper. A Frequency Response Function (FRF) model of the dynamic system was derived from Finite Element Method (FEM) analysis, which can then be used for control design and implementation. For the particular example piezoelectric materials were used as actuators on a flexible fin. The experimental system ID was then compared and verified with the simulation ID.
