The lifetime of an aircraft model can be about 60 years. Mitigating the impact of growing traffic on environment is therefore a challenge. Significant progresses in terms of integrated engineering design have been made over the last 15 years at Airbus, yielding the A380. Steps are now taken to meet long term environmental objectives.
