INFLUENCE OF THE DIAMETER OF TYRANNO ZMI FIBER ON THE STATISTICAL STRENGTH

The size effect on the diameter has been assessed for the single fiber tensile strength of Tyranno ZMI fiber, which shows variable diameter. Weibull parameters have shown the dependence on the sample diameter. SEM analyses had revealed characteristic fracture patterns of extremely weak samples only in "large diameter" fibers.
