This paper gives details from offline simulations, full-flight simulator studies and the preparation of a flight test experiment using the In-Flight Simulation capability of DLR’s (German Aerospace Center) test aircraft ATTAS (Advanced Technologies Testing Aircraft) to validate safe boundaries around a wake vortex for encounter avoidance.
