Keywords: aircraft design, optimization, noise, emissions

Aircraft environmental performance must now be considered on equal ground with other metrics, such as operating cost. This research explores the integration of environmental considerations into aircraft conceptual design: a multi-objective genetic algorithm was developed to determine optimal configurations and evaluate trade-offs between conflicting objectives of noise, emissions, and cost.
