WELCOME TO ICAS
"Covering the World of Aeronautics"
ICAS is an international, non-government, non-profit scientific organization with the mission to advance knowledge and facilitate collaboration in aeronautics. ICAS is the only international support organization to representative aeronautical engineering professional societies and their members in 30 countries. ICAS organizes every two years an International Congress covering all aspects of aeronautical science and technology and their application to both military and civil aviation. A short summary description about ICAS can be downloaded (here).
Dear ICAS Colleagues
I write concerning the preparations for ICAS 2014 in St Petersburg, Russia (7-12 September). Detailed planning continues and registrations to date are at record levels, so we can anticipate a full schedule of technical and networking activities. Your attention is drawn to the deadline for “Normal Registration”, which is Thursday, 31 July, and I therefore encourage anyone not yet registered to take advantage of this final discount.
As we are all well aware, our industry has suffered terrible tragedies in recent times in Mali, Taiwan, Ukraine, the Indian Ocean and elsewhere, with the MH17 disaster being the most appalling of all. The deficiencies and misuse of our aeronautical technologies, on which we work so hard for the benefit of humanity, are at the forefront of the World at this time. It is therefore even more critical than ever for the ICAS community to come together in the spirit of von Kármán to “facilitate collaboration in aeronautics”, as has occurred biennially ever since 1958.
It is my intention at the ICAS 2014 opening ceremony to lead a commemoration of the great losses experienced by so many, and dedicate our deliberations to their memory.
