A numerical methodology via a Progressive Failure Dynamic Analysis approach was developed by coupling a micromechanics and an explicit finite element platforms to effectively capture failure mechanisms and their contribution to soft impact damage. The methodology was examined by comparing numerical and experimental responses of an F-16 canopy to bird-strike.
