The feasibility and innovation potential of zero-emission and hybrid-electric flying is evaluated based on physical performance perspectives of electric power and storage technologies as well as hybrid power architectures. The essential scaling properties for air transport mission requirements of these motive power systems, using various sources of electricity, are presented.
