D-SEND PROJECT FOR LOW SONIC BOOM DESIGN TECHNOLOGY

The project aims at verifying JAXA’s boom measurement method and low boom design concept by balloon drop test. An experimental airplane(1000kg), which has a shaped boom signature, is designed. In 2011, the drop tests with axisymmetric bodies were conducted. The project details and test results are discussed.
