Univ. of Limerick, Ireland

Keywords: insect contamination, laminar flow, coatings

Materials and coatings to prevent or reduce the adhesion of insects, when subjected to high-speed impact (up to 100 ms-1), have been evaluated using bespoke laboratory test fixtures. The purpose was to investigate the resulting size of insect residue in the context of laminar flow applications and boundary layer transition.
