Keywords: flapping wing, surface pressure measurements, turbulent flow, smooth flow
Measurements of the time-varying surface pressures on a rigid flapping wing model have been obtained experimentally. Measurements under both nominally smooth and replicated atmospheric turbulence conditions are presented. Sufficient chordwise resolution and frequency response is obtained to quantify the effect of the transient leading-edge vortex on sectional force coefficients.
