Keywords: bird surrogate, full scale test, numerical modelling, explicit nonlinear finite

Due to the use of real birds, birdstrike tests are usually not repeatable and therefore surrogates are used. The feasibility of surrogates made of a ballistic gel was assessed. Tests were performed and simulation ran. The test data were then compared with the analytic solution, numerical results and bibliographical data.
