This paper studies privacy issues of general and business aviation aircraft operators in next-generation air traffic systems. For the Automatic Dependent Surveillance Broadcast (ADS-B) technology used in augmenting or replacing radar based airspace surveillance, the paper identifies privacy weaknesses, discusses existing aviation standards, and proposes mitigations to close gaps.
