Stress concentrations in composite scarf repairs can be minimised by optimising the repair ply layup. This research evaluates the effectiveness of optimising the scarf repair ply layup for several scarf angles, differing numbers of plies, different levels of optimisation constraints and various adhesive properties (elastic, perfectly plastic and hot/wet).
