The paper describes the advanced design features of a flight path angle based Fly-by-Wire augmented manual mode using the Total Energy Control System as core controller. Differences and advantages of such a system in comparison to existing systems are pointed out. Furthermore results of pilot-in-the loop simulation are demonstrated.
