A new CAD-based shape parameterization framework that incorporates NURBS formulation for smooth surface/curve representation was developed to achieve the ease of geometrical constraints application, intersection manipulation and rapid reverse engineering. Design optimization of the practical aircraft shape, DLR-F6 WBNP, coupled with Adjoint method was conducted to show its capability.
