A study was conducted using CFD analysis of the high Reynolds number flow about a quasi- 2-D spinning cylinder in a crossflow, using a high resolution 3D time marching unsteady laminar Navier-Stokes solver. The effect of vortex shedding suppression was successfully resolved, but the reverse Magnus effect was not captured.
