Despite recent inclusion of hydroprocessed bio-oils in the jet fuel specification (ASTM-D7566), limited feedstock is expected to restrict industry uptake of bio-refined jet fuel. This work reports on the potential for microalgae to provide the aviation sector with a secure, environmentally sustainable alternative fuel feedstock through triple bottom line analysis.
