In Slotted Waveguide Antenna Stiffened Structure (SWASS) top-hat stiffeners on skins or blade stiffeners in sandwich panels both support loads and act as radiofrequency waveguides. Slots cut into the waveguides create slotted waveguide antennas. This paper summarises the design, manufacture and test of a SWASS panel containing a planar array.
