Potential effect of intake capability on intake efficiency and on thrust-economic characteristics of high-speed aircraft airbreathing propulsion system is analyzed. Some ways to improve internal contraction ratio and capabilities of fixed geometry intakes are considered. High speed fixed geometry intake is compared with variable geometry intake at start/unstart conditions.
