Complex, load bearing CFRP components like a fully integral Door Surround Structure are difficult to manufacture but may be advantageous from an assembly point of view. Within the EU project ALCAS this topic has been investigated by challenging alternative design options and by evaluating a resin infusion based manufacturing scenario.
