The the potential of effusion cooling with steam to control the heat flux in critical regions of the SKYLON spaceplane is investigated. The studies are performed with the DLR Euler and Navier-Stokes Code TAU. The simulations investigate the most critical non-equilibrium hypersonic flow conditions along the SKYLON re-entry trajectory.
