An experimental investigation was conducted into damage modes, notched performance and scale effects of CFRP coupons. Open hole tension specimens were tested varying ply thickness and in-plane dimensions. The results provided valuable information on damage phenomena and scale effects, and are critical to developing improved material characterisation and predictive tools.
