Keywords: dynamic airspace configuration, approximate dynamic programming

This paper investigates the benefits of using a sector-combining algorithm proposed in previous research to combine generic high altitude airspace sectors. The algorithm uses a version of the simplified dynamic density workload metric modified for future automation and is studied with increased traffic demand.
