One of the key drivers of corrosion is a failure of protective coatings. Although aircraft coatings are generally high quality, under a repeated thermo-mechanical loading coatings they may fail prematurely. This paper discusses the influence of mechanical loading and temperature change on coating longevity at critical aircraft joints.
