Keywords: multiresolution modeling, hidden factors, decision making, assumptions

This paper addresses a method for multiresolution modeling to elucidate the hidden factors in decision making. Using several case studies, this paper will demonstrate how faulty assumptions can derail the decision process, and how hidden factors often have a greater impact than the parameters that are “obvious” through engineering intuition.
