DIRECT OPTIMIZATION METHOD AND AERODYNAMIC SHAPE DESIGN AT SUPERSONIC FLIGHT CONDITIONS

The efficient method for aerodynamic shape profiling in supersonic flow is presented. The method combines Newton-based optimization algorithm and flow modeling within the framework of Euler’s equations. Two- and three-dimensional design problems are considered. The objective functions (drag and sonic-boom parameters) are minimized under geometric and aerodynamic constraints.
