Keywords: shear flow, volumetric charge, electric field
It is shown that volumetric charge transfer owing to cross-flow induced by quasi-streamwise vortices in near wall region of turbulent boundary layer results in appearing both horizontal and vertical volumetric electrostatic forces retarding mentioned cross-flow. As a consequence, the spanwise averaged skin friction reduces.
