The active flow control technology using plasma actuators is developed to exploit the bi-stable nature of the asymmetric forebody vortex wake for lateral/directional control in low-speed and high angle of attack regimes. The wind tunnel experiments have confirmed that the plasma actuator can be used to displace forebody vortices.
