The tool SMARTCAD is specifically developed for nonlinear aeroelastic analysis in conceptual design. In particular the aeroelastic behavior of very flexible aircrafts featuring high aspect-ratio wings is considered, when material anisotropy and geometrical nonlinearities are investigated. SMARTCAD features an original finite-volume beam formulation coupled to classic aerodynamic lifting surface methods.
