MICROMECHANICAL FEM MODELING OF THERMAL STRESSES IN FUNCTIONALLY GRADED MATERIALS

In the present study, the residual stress in a CoCrAlY/Zro2 FGM thermal shield is analyzed by means of a micro-mechanical FEM model. It is found that the applied boundary condition and the way of particle distribution in the material play a major role in the calculated stress field.
