To accurately simulate the ice shape with roughness, a new approach called the Layer Pavement Method is developed by employing sub-grid roughness information into the ice accretion CFD process. The iced grids will be given predefined ‘types’ or ‘puzzle pieces’ until the iced surface is completely paved.
