Keywords: Opposing jet, thermal protection system, reusable launch vehicle, turbulent flow

Numerical study was conducted to investigate the effect of the opposing jet for the blunt and ogive-shaped nose of the reusable launch vehicles. The result of Navier-Stokes computation with k-w turbulence model shows that the opposing jet is effective to reduce heat flux and revealed the detail of the flowfield.
