The paper describes the efforts on the construction of a computational framework to provide 2-D and 3-D external aerodynamic optimizations. The framework uses genetic algorithms as optimization tools and different CFD codes to provide the aerodynamic analysis capability. Several applications that illustrate the framework use are presented in the paper.
